A Tip From Ryann.....

I wanted to make my Hustle & Bustle blog debut a fun one that reflected what I love most about weddings. I am really impressed when a bride and groom add some personal touches to their day, especially when they are do-it-yourself items. I think this is about as personal as you can get. This being said, I understand that there are many brides out there that are not exactly Martha Stewart-friendly. This is when I thought of embossing- it is simple, dummy-proof even, and still oh so elegant and leave a lot of possibilities.

Here is a quick how to on three great techniques:

Rubber Stamp Heat Embossing with Embossing Powder- easy

1. Items needed: hair dryer, favorite stamp, embossing stamp pad, and embossing powder (in color of choice). All of these items can be purchased at a Michael's or other craft store.

2. Stamp your rubber stamp on embossing stamp pad and then on desired paper piece (ex. invitations, favors, menus, place settings, etc.).

3. Sprinkle on some embossing powder, shake off excess.

4. Take your blow dryer and heat stamped area.

finished example:
so lovely!!

Rubber Stamp Velvet Emboss- easier

1. Supplies needed: Velvet, iron, rubber stamp, spray bottle

2. Heat iron, wet velvet surface and stamp with spray bottle of water

3. Lay velvet over stamp, soft fabric part down, take hot iron and press iron on velvet where it is over stamp.

Finished example:

Rubbed emboss- easiest

1. Needed supplies: stencil, rubbing embossing tool

2. Place stencil on surface and tape to hold down to keep steady.

3. Place paper or desired embossed material over stencil- backwards

4. Use rubbing tool in stencil areas.

Finished example:

I hope this inspires you, it definitely gets my ideas flowing! Imagine the possibilities, and happy wedding planning!

Oh, Fudge!

(photo from Buzzle.com)
Recently, I was thinking about making some fudge for my family.
After doing a bit of research, I was shocked to learn how easy it really is to make!
I was also surprised at the unlimited number of flavors to make.

Which got me thinking...why not a fudge bar at your reception? We all know candy buffets are still in high demand. Let's just give it a decadent, fun twist! Your guests still get that “kid in the candy store” excited feeling but a fudge buffet is a little bit more unique...and more filling, which saves you $!

For all you DIY-ers, this is perfect. Even if you are not a “do it yourself’ nut, this fudge table could be a great starter project for you. It is pretty simple & very impressive! It's also inexpensive, & if you mess up on the presentation, just leave the ugly pieces at home to indulge on later.

Before, I thought fudge came in about 3 flavors, chocolate (of course), vanilla, and what not. But, NO, fudge can be made in just about every flavor under the sun (cheesecake, candy corn, bubble gum, RUM!)!

If you are not into a whole table full of fudge, a homemade piece of fudge wrapped in fabric, box, or paper that coordinates with your wedding décor is a terrific favor. Again, this is a super easy project that would be super appreciated by your guests.
